More Products From Creative Corkworks

It’s difficult to keep up with the product ideas coming from Raelene Rozander’s Creative Corkworks.

Tired of pulling your favourite necklace from a tangled knot in your jewellery box? Perhaps you need the mirror with a cork surround that you can hang your necklace from and pin your ear studs into. Need to quickly pick your flash drive from the others in that tech-tangle on your desktop? The drive fitted into a hollowed out wine cork is easy to spot.

Raelene’s products can be found in a few wineries and a campground in Summerland BC; the Penticton Wine & Tourism Center; and the Penticton Art Gallery.
See Raelene’s creations on her Etsy page, or check out her Creative Corkworks facebook page.

Wine cork coasters by Vancouver Island crafter

March 10th, 2014

coasters made from recycled wine corksVancouver Island crafter, Raelene Rozander, is making these great coasters from our recycled wine corks. Raelene grew up in the Okanagan, so has a natural affinity to all things wine and it shows in her work. She has just launched an Etsy page, so take a look and see what she’s up to. Or check out her Creative Corkworks facebook page.

Looks to me like a slightly larger of these would be perfect for trivets. Do I hear product line expansion?!

Annie puts her heart into her work

March 4th, 2014

heart shaped wall hanging from recycled wine corksVancouver crafter, Annie Vandergaag, is passionate about her craft. So it’s little wonder that she puts her heart into her work.

Great colour transition from top to bottom in this lovely wall hanging. The corks are bound together with hemp cord and the colour is achieved simply by grouping corks with similar natural wine staining.

Annie says, “So I made five of the cork hearts, and after some practice and reshaping, I’m very happy with the final projects! You can see I’ve used hemp to line the corks and make them able to hold. Enjoy!”

Annie, thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Pointillism alive and well in London

May 7th, 2013

50th year tribute to marilyn monroe created from wine corksThe neo-impressionists may have used paint, but Conrad Engelhardt prefers wine corks as his medium. His recent works in The Other Art Fair — billed as London’s leading artist-led fair — included pieces such as his 50th year tribute to Marilyn Monroe.

Conrad’s colour palette is comprised exclusively of the natural colours imparted to the cork by the wines. The resulting artworks range in colour from deep burgundies to soft, warm hi-lites. Combine those colours with nudes — one of his favourite subjects — and you’ll understand the inspiration for show titles such as “Full Bodied: An Art Tasting” at the Hoxton Gallery At the Arch in January, 2013.
